Below are some updates and information from the last couple Josiah Henson Museum Advisory Committee meetings.
- Both the visitor center construction and historic house building renovations have been completed
- Installation has been completed for both interior & exterior exhibits as of January 31, 2021.
- Josiah Henson naming will go on the building soon.
- Much of the landscaping has been complied and the grounds look beautiful.
- The Family bench has been installed by the tree we designated as the family tree during the family reunion.
- The first set of pavers have gone down, the next set is planned to be installed will by end of April.
- The committee and foundation agreed with our decision to push the family reunion to 2021
- The foundation is looking to speak about the museum on a morning show/news which will also speak of the “Pathway to Freedom” Commemorative Pavers & Donor Benches in hopes to increase purchase and support.
- Opening date has been pushed back due COVID-19 restrictions from February to early spring 2021.
- Current plans are to open on a very limited basis on April 23rd.
